Disabled Living Centres Council operate regional centres where an Occupational Therapist or other advisor is available to source equipment, and a range of equipment is available to demonstrate to interested parties. Fledglings is an excellent source of practical bits of equipment that you can buy inexpensively for children with special needs. Includes items to promote independence with feeding, sleeping, playing etc. and the best thing is that they will try to track down an individual item that you need. A small organisation but experienced, helpful and responsive. Hope Education offers toys and equipment for children including those with special needs. Nottingham Rehab provides a commercial main order catalogue 'Ways and Means' of household products for people with special needs. Includes cutlery, crockery, special scissors, and pencil grips. Has a catalogue for children including equipment, toys and games. |
